Transporation
By Air
Malaysia’s primary gateway is the state-of-the-art Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). It is located in Sepang, which is about 50km (less than an hour’s drive via highway) south of Kuala Lumpur.
On arrival, approach the formal taxi counter at the airport to purchase your taxi ticket (if you are preparing your own trip to hotels). From KLIA, visitors are able to get to the heart of KL by bus, limousine taxi, KLIA Ekspres or rent-a-car services available. The taxi fare from the international airport to the conference preferred hotel costs approximately RM70 per car, while the taxi fare from the airport to the conference venue is approximately RM60 per car. If travelling in a group of 5 or more persons, then please inform the taxi/cab counter. Similarly, you will find car rental and car hire counters at the airport. Please avoid taking private taxi or cabs run by individuals on arrival.
Around Town
By Road
Taxis in major cities are usually fitted with meters. In KL, the rate is currently RM2.50 for the first two kilometres and 10 sen for every subsequent 200 metres. However, a surcharge of 50% will be levied between midnight and 6am. Make sure the taxi drivers use the fare meter all the time.
Buses are an inexpensive way to travel in Malaysia. Buses plying routes within towns and cities typically charge fares according to the distance covered while interstate buses have fixed rates.
By Rail
Kuala Lumpur International Airport Express (KLIA Express) is only 30 minutes journey from KLIA Airport to down town, KL Sentral.
There is also the commuter train service as well as the Light Rail Transit (LRT) for faster means of transportation to a selection of destinations. To find out more about Kuala Lumpur Mass Transit services, check out at Putra LRT and STAR LRT.
The KL Monorail is designed to complement and integrate with the existing and planned urban transportation systems for Kuala Lumpur.
